Nothing Else Matters: Portrait of James Hetfield, Bunnell Arts Center, Homer, Alaska, 2018
Culling inspiration from metal music, ghillie suits, horror b-movies, British prop comedy shows, amateur prosthetics and the natural environment, I worked with the local Homer, Alaska community to create a series of camouflaged costumes and props that were used to reinterpret Metallica music videos. This video represents a new direction in my work; I used only contemporary visual references chosen by student collaborators as inspiration to conceptualize and produce this project. I worked with local teens from the R.E.C. Room, Homer’s youth Resource & Enrichment Co-op. This work was filmed entirely by my student collaborators and was made possible by the Bunnell Arts Center residency.
